INCI: Rosmarinus officinalis (syn. Salvia rosmarinus)
Rosemary Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flowering tops of Rosmarinus officinalis. It is characterised by its fresh, herbaceous, camphoraceous, and subtly woody aroma, providing an invigorating and clarifying fragrance. Spain and Tunisia are among the principal producers of high-quality Rosemary essential oil.
Traditionally used in aromatherapy, perfumery, and cosmetic formulations, Rosemary essential oil is valued for its stimulating and refreshing aroma. It is especially appreciated in skincare products formulated for oily skin, as well as in shampoos, scalp treatments, and hair care formulations. It is commonly incorporated into massage oils intended to improve the appearance of the skin and into steam inhalations for a fresh and cleansing aromatic experience. Rosemary is also widely used in soaps, hair care products, and home fragrance applications.
Extraction Method: Steam distillation of the flowering tops.
Origin: Spain and Tunisia.
Contraindications: Considered non-toxic when used as directed and properly diluted. However, it should be used with caution by individuals with a history of epilepsy or high blood pressure. As with all essential oils, a patch test is recommended before topical application.
Blends beautifully with Clove, Geranium, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Orange, Peppermint, Pine, and Rosewood essential oils.
