Lavender Essential Oil

INCI: Lavandula angustifolia / Lavandula officinalis

Lavender Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia (also known as Lavandula officinalis or Lavandula vera). It is celebrated for its soft, floral, fresh, and deeply relaxing aroma, making it one of the world's most versatile and widely used essential oils. Major producing countries include France, Bulgaria, and the United Kingdom. True Lavender (Lavandula vera) naturally grows at high altitudes, where it develops its distinctive and refined aromatic profile.

Traditionally used in personal care products for all skin types, Lavender is especially appreciated in formulations for combination and sensitive skin. It is valued for its soothing and balancing properties, while its pleasant fragrance promotes a sense of relaxation and well-being. Lavender is widely incorporated into creams, lotions, soaps, massage oils, home fragrances, and children's personal care products. It is also traditionally recognised as one of the very few essential oils that, in specific situations and with appropriate caution, may be applied neat to a very small area of skin. Nevertheless, proper dilution is recommended for routine cosmetic use.

Extraction Method: Steam distillation of the flowering tops.

Contraindications: Considered non-toxic when used as directed and properly diluted. Although Lavender is among the gentlest essential oils, a patch test is recommended before topical application, particularly for individuals with sensitive skin.

Blends beautifully with Geranium, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Myrrh, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Pine, and Rosemary essential oils.
