Cinnamon Essential Oil

INCI: Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Leaf Oil)

Cinnamon Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of Cinnamomum zeylanicum (also known as Cinnamomum verum). It is renowned for its warm, sweet, spicy, and exceptionally rich aroma, making it one of the most distinctive ingredients in fine perfumery. Major production regions include Madagascar and Southeast Asia, while the finest aromatic cinnamon is traditionally associated with Sri Lanka.

Important: For cosmetic and aromatherapy applications, the leaf essential oil (Cinnamon Leaf Oil) is generally preferred, as it is considerably milder than the essential oil obtained from the bark (Cinnamon Bark Oil).

Traditionally used in perfumery, home fragrance, and cosmetic formulations, Cinnamon Leaf essential oil is prized for its warm and inviting fragrance. It is appreciated for its cleansing properties and is typically used in small amounts to add depth, warmth, and complexity to fragrance compositions. It is also a popular ingredient in seasonal fragrances, soaps, candles, and personal care products.

Extraction Method: Steam distillation of the leaves.

Origin: Madagascar and Southeast Asia.

Contraindications: Considered non-toxic when used as directed and properly diluted. However, it may cause skin irritation or sensitisation, particularly at higher concentrations. It should always be used at low dilution levels, and a patch test is recommended before topical application.

Blends beautifully with Clove, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Orange, Frankincense, Pine, and Rosemary essential oils.
