Citronella Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh or slightly dried grass of Cymbopogon winterianus. It is distinguished by its fresh, bright, lemony, and herbaceous aroma, making it one of the most popular essential oils for personal care products and outdoor applications.
Widely recognized as a natural insect repellent, Citronella is commonly used in candles, sprays, lotions, and aromatic blends. It is also appreciated for its cleansing, deodorizing, and refreshing properties, while its crisp fragrance helps create a clean and pleasant atmosphere both indoors and outdoors.
Extraction Method: Steam distillation of the fresh or slightly dried grass.
Origin: Sri Lanka and Java.
Contraindications: Considered non-toxic when used as directed and properly diluted. It may cause skin irritation or sensitivity in individuals with delicate skin, so a patch test is recommended before topical application.
